How long should I massage
my baby?
Start with a few minutes, then build up to ten
to twenty minutes, once or twice a day. Start slowly and see how you
and your baby are responding.
When is the best time?
In the morning when your baby is quietly alert,
or before or after a bath... or in the evening just before
sleep.
What if I don't have
enough time for a full massage?
If you find that you don't have enough time for a full massage, incorporate
sequences like legs and feet or arms and shoulders or abdomen into baby
care times... bathing, changing diapers, any time you are naturally spending
time together.
When should I stop infant
massage?
Massage until your baby is about six or seven
months old and is starting to crawl. But the benefits of baby
massage are still there. Many parents find children like the massage
to continue, and that it helps them to relax. See how you both
feel, maybe a good back rub before bed will become a part of your
lives together.
